Takesha Riggs earns SIAC Player of the Week Honor

Fort Valley State University’s (FVSU) Takesha Riggs has been named Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) Women’s Basketball Player of the Week for the week ending January 17, 2010. The senior guard earned the weekly honor for a week in which she helped the Lady Wildcats win games against Claflin University, Paine College, and Benedict College.
Over the three game period, Riggs, a native of Homestead, Florida, scored a total of 42 points, collected eight rebounds, dished out 16 assists, had eight steals, and blocked three shots.
This was her first selection as SIAC Player of the Week for the 2009-2010 season. Riggs, a preseason All-SIAC First Team member, was named to the SIAC All-Conference Team in her freshman, sophomore, and junior seasons.
Currently, Riggs leads the Lady Wildcats in scoring with a 16.2 points per game average. She also leads the team in steals with 40 and in assists with 59. Riggs averages 4.9 rebounds contest.
