Kentucky State University Thorobreds (5-4, 3-4 SIAC) Ranked 6th in the SIAC

Last Meeting: 

Played last year at Alumni Stadium in Frankfort, KY.  Wildcats won 59-21.

 

The Series: 

Series dates back to 1970.  FVSU leads the series 16-7-0.

 

Last Week:

Last Saturday's unexpected 28-20 loss to the Tigers of Benedict College severely hobbled the Wildcats.  The loss all but eliminated FVSU from contention for the SIAC title and dropped the Wildcats from sixth to tenth in the NCAA Division II Super Regional Two Weekly Rankings.  Only the top eight finishers in the regional rankings have a possibility of post-season NCAA play.

 

 

Kentucky State University

 

The Thorobreds defeated the Bears of Miles College, 21-6. 

 

Next Game:

The Wildcats meet the Golden Rams of Albany State in the 20th Annual Fountain City Classic in Columbus, Georgia.  Kick-off is 1:30 p.m 

 

The Thorobreds will travel to Jackson, Tennessee to play the Dragons of Lane College at 6 p.m.  (CST).

 

 

The Coaches:

 

Fort Valley State University Head Coach Donald Pittman is in his first campaign as a head coach.  The Wildcats are 5-4 (4-3 in the SIAC) under Coach Pittman.  A graduate of Adams State University, Pittman is the former offensive coordinator for the Golden Rams of Albany State University.  He is a 1974 graduate of Adams State University and received his masters in counseling from Texas A&M University.

 

The Thorobreds are coached by interim Head Coach Wayne Dickens.
